This series of lectures provides a clear outline of the history and changes of Czech visual art and visual culture in the second half of the 20th century. The changes of opinion in artistic creation are traced in the context of the history of socio-political and cultural changes in the Czech lands, as well as in the broader context of the historical events of the 20th century and the events on the European and world scene influenced by them. The themes reflected include the relationship between ideology, official and unofficial art, the underground, the material and conceptual turn, feminism and transformation, and the global art world.
Basic knowledge of the tendencies and changes of opinion in painting, sculpture and conceptual art in the Czech lands between 1945 and 2000 with regard to the wider context.
