Course content
1. Basic technical aspects of the middel ages illumination 2. Oldest manuscripts of the antiquity (types, iconography, function and style) 3. Book ilustration at the court of Charles the Great. Main centres, manuscript types, style, influence 4. French medieval book illustration from the 11th to the 15the century

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
During the semester all students must make a presentation on the selected thema which is derivated from visual culture of Czech lands in the middle ages (especially manuscript illuminations). The Basic methods are iconography and formal analyses.

The finished bachelor degree of the History of Art.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

Written treatment of the subject in a reasonable range (about 10-15 pages), including a list of references and footnotes and oral recitation, accompanied by video documentation.
