Course content
1. Private collecting in the Renaissance and Baroque period 2. Theoretical views of collecting in the 16th-18th centuries 3. Collecting and the Jesuit Order in the Baroque era 4. Establishment of the state Museums in the 18th Century (Louvre) 5. Art museums in the 19th and in the first half of the 20th century in Europe 6. Museum of Decorative Arts in German and Austrian countries 7. Diocesan museums in Central Europe 8. Museums of art in the Czech Republic - tradition and present 9. Museum legislation in the Czech Republic - tradition and present 10. Basic terms of museum activities (thesaurus, selection, presentation, conservation, education, museum marketing) 11. Visual art exhibitions and their specifics

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the obtaining complex knowledge of museology in synchronous and diachronic view with an emphasis on historical museology (typology of museum institutions in the 18th-20th centuries) and critical and post museology.
