Course content
The seminar focuses attention on the architecture of European neoclassicism in the 18th and 19th century - in France, the UK and the Central European area. The works of architects will be presented in the context of contemporary theories of architecture, taking into account the requirements and the role of the client. 1) France: Ange-Jacques Gabriel, Jacques-Germain Soufflot, Charles de Wailly, Marie-Joseph Peyre, Jacques Gondoin, architecture parlante speaking architecture (Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, Étienne-Louis Boullée), Jean-Nicolas-Louis Durand, Henri Labrouste 2) Great Britain: Robert Adam, John Soane, John Nash, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, English landscape garden 3) Germany: Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff, Carl Gotthard Langhans, David a Friedrich Gilly, Heinrich Gentz, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Leo von Klenze 4) Austria: Isidor Canevale, Louis Montoyer, Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg, Charles Moreau, Joseph Hardmuth, Joseph Kornhäusel, Franz Engel

Learning outcomes
The main aim is to acquire knowledge of European architecture 1750-1850.
The main aim is to acquire knowledge of European architecture 1750-1850. Students translate articles in English language or German language. They compare their theoretical knowledge with examples of neoclassicism in the Czech Republic.
Prerequisites
The lectures are for students of Art History. The requirement is to work with German and English.
