The course is intended as an introduction to the history of European art. Lectures in the winter semester will be focused on art from ancient Greece to the 16th century. Artistic styles, important personalities and main works of art will be presented in the historical and cultural context of each period. The overview of the situation in Czech lands is also an integral goal of the course.
The absolvent of this course will acquire basic knowledge of the history of art from ancient Greece to the 16th century. At the end of the course student should be able to understand and explain main periods of European Art in epochs mentioned above.
