Course content
- photography during WW II (Skupina 42, Sudek, Tmej, Marco) - surrealism after WW II (Medková, Reichmann, Krátký, Nožička) - socialistic realism and the photography of 50's (society, theory of art, policy) - poetry of the everyday life in the photography (Group 42, DOFO, VOX, Profil, Einhorn, Jírů) - documentary photography of 60's (Koudelka, Luskačová) - Josef Sudek and his after-war series - ecological points of view (Sudek, Hrubý, Hinšt, Spurný) - staged photography (Seidling, EPOS, Setkání, Saudek) - documentary photography of 70's and 80's (Štreit, Holomíček, Štecha, Stehli) - collection of photography in the Czech Republic, the principles of the theory of photography

Learning activities and teaching methods

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the knowledge of single movements and creative methods in the history of the Czech photography of the 20th century contexting the world and the development of the medium in the previous century.
The orientation in the particular streams of the Czech art photography of the 20th century. The students should also comprehend the role of photography in the society and in politics.
Prerequisites
Completion of the course DCFB1 or slightly advanced orientation in the visual arts and the Czech photography of the 20th century.

Oral exam, Seminar Work

Seminar paper and colloquium.
