Course content
|
Two semestrs course presents a historical development of ancient art, solves problems of its reception in a contemporary cultural context focusing on the most famous masterpieses of architecture, sculpture and painting. Lectures also take heed of ancient tradition in European art, especially in Renaissance and Neoclassicism period. 1) Aegean art and its artefacts 2) The developmnet of Greek art from geometric to hellenistic style 3) Etruscan and Roman continuity in architecture and in wall painting 4) The multilayered Roman art from the late republic to Constantine 5) The echo of Greek and Roman art in European cultural context

Student catch up information on development, reception and tradition of ancient art, he get to know problems of ancient art in contemporary cultural context.

|
Student should be interested in matters of developments and tradition of ancient art.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Dialog
Two semestr course closes up with credit in winter semestr and with colloquium in summer semestr. Student proves a knowledge of chosen artworks of Greek and Roman art.
