1. Introduction - continuities and discontinuities of art history 2. The Berlin School of Art History 3. Collectors, connoisseurs and art history 4. Museums as a field of art history formation 5. The Vienna School of Art History 6. Cultural history, traditions and possibilities 7. Aby Warburg and critical iconology 8. Iconology of Erwin Panofsky and his followers 9. Art history in the USA and the state of the field in the 1940s-1960s 10. The turn of the 1960s and the search for new paths: poststructuralism, deconstructivism and the situation of postmodernism 11. Marxism and the social history of art 12. Gender, feminism, cultural anthropology and other challenges 13. New (critical) art history, revision and plurality of art history

Learning outcomes
This course is a continuation of "Historiography of Art History 1" with the aim to analytically present in chronological sequence the basic tendencies and approaches of art history, its protagonists and phenomena from the 19th century to the contemporary pluralistic historiography of art history. Special attention will be paid to the past of art history in the Czech lands in the 18th-20th century.
Orientation in the basic changes and reflection of art in the 19th and 20th century.
Prerequisites
Interest in the specific topics; basic orientation in general European history

Assessment methods and criteria

Producing and giving a presentation. An oral exam to check the knowledge of lecture topics and of specialised literature. Attending at least 80% of classes.
