Course content
1.-2 Secession, Edvard Munch. 3 Expresionistic painting, the artistic groups Die Brücke. 4-5 The artistic groups Neue Künstlervereinigung München, Der blaue Reiter and Wassily Kandinsky. 6 Expresionistic sculpture. 7-8 The cubist painting, Pablo Picasso. 9 Development of cubistic form in sculpture, Alexander Archipenko. 10 Russian avant-garde, suprematism, construktivism. 11 De Stijl, neoplasticism. 12 Dadaism.

Learning outcomes
The series of lectures summarizes the history of European painting, sculpture, spatial design, and conceptual art in the 1910s and 1920s. The focus is on the beginnings of artistic avant-gardes and the paths of opinion transformations in art in the wider context of historical-political events.
Basic knowledge of tendencies and opinion transformations of European painting, sculpture between 1900 and 1920.
Prerequisites
Attendance of the lecture series DVU/BEU19 - 19th Century European Art.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Active participation in lectures. Minimum 80 percent attendance. Credit test verifying the knowledge of the lectures' content and literature. Manifestation of the knowledge of the lectures' content and literature.
