Course content
1) Introdution: What do we study in the paintings? 2) Wall paintings: materials & techniques 3) Easle paintins, nr. 1: materials & techniques 4) Easle paintins, nr. 2: Painting layers, modern survey techniques, marking of works of art, transport of paintings, damages 5) Easle paintins, nr. 3: Type of painting style, concepts of originality, composition of a painting, colours and colour relationships and contrasts 6) Perspective and linear construction of space in painting.

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

Learning outcomes
Lectures of one hour a week introduce the basic concepts of the theory of creation and the perception of the painter's work in the past and present. Using practical examples, the course introduces students to the principles of linear, colour, composition, spatial, expressive and material construction
Knowledge of the basic concepts of the theory of creation and perception of a painting from Antiquity to the 20th century and of the principles of linear, colour, composition, spatial, sign and material construction of a painting
Prerequisites
Interest in the specific topics; basic orientation in general European history

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student performance

A written exam to check the knowledge of lecture topics, required specialised literature and identification of pictures. Attending at least 80% of classes.
