Course content
Method: Connoisseurship Method: Formalism a style analysis Method: Ikonography a iconology Method: Other Contextual Approaches Method: Other Disciplinary Approaches Historiography: Schools of Connoisseurship and formal approaches (H. Wölfflin etc.) Historiography: Viennese school of art history Historiography: Schools of Iconology Historiography: Structuralism, psychoanalysis and feminism Historiography: New Art Histroy

Learning outcomes
The course provides analytical outline of the main art-historical methods with the stress laid on up-to-date texts of world and also Czech art historians. The lectures will be interconnected with seminars which goal will be analysis of selected texts covering different methods (conninisseurship, formal analysis, iconography, ikonology, history, histroical antrhroplogy, microhistory).
The active attitude of students will be strongly asked
Prerequisites
The language skill to cope with English study materials and publications.
