Applied Natural Language Processing (Tuesday 13:15-14:45 / 2.39, tř. Svobody, DAS/JAZ4 & DAS/PBJ4) This course provides an overview of common Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques that can be used to facilitate data mining for research. In this course, we will explore how computers process data, with a particular focus on how to apply these technologies to research. The course will involve a number of mini projects in which various NLP technologies will be applied to academic inquiries. No prior knowledge of digital technologies or computer programming is required for this course, but you are expected to spend a significant amount of time in (i) setting up your own device(s) suitable for Python programming and (ii) troubleshooting your own issues firstly and actively by consulting online platforms (e.g., Stack Overflow).
