Winter term 2024/2025: The course will provide students with the fundamental understanding of 1500 kanji that account for approximately 95% of all characters in a Japanese text. See details in Moodle.

Learning outcomes
|
Winter term 2024/2025: Intensive kanji course - The main goal of the course is passive acquisition of 1500 most frequently used kanji through their modified frequential ordering. Students will also learn words in which the respective kanji appear most often.
Winter term 2024/2025: Upon the completion of the course, students should be able to passively recognize at least 600 kanji and should have a general understanding of the basic principles utilized in the Japanese writing system. Furthermore, they will also get familiarized with the application called Anki which incorporates a learning method based on the use of flashcards.
