The objective of this course is to furnish the students with a critical examination of contemporary Vietnamese culture and its values. A number of key issues in the development of modern Vietnam will be discussed, including family, social class, gender, ethnicity, and last but not the least national identity. Thus, the course will be divided into three thematic blocks, which will be dedicated to three levels of Vietnamese culture: 1) Local approach (cultural diversities); 2) National level (unification process and national culture); 3) International aspects (diasporic Vietnam, mobility)
