1. Introduction to general comics theory I - Historical development and vague definition of comics 2. Introduction to general comic theory II - Spaciotopics and arthrology 3. The development of Japanese comics from the point of view of arthrology and spaciotopics 4. Historical development of Japanese comics and political cartoons in the Meiji period 5. Historical development of Japanese comics II - shonen and shojo zashi in the first half of the 20th century 6. Historical development of Japanese comics III - post-war comics, Osamu Tezuka and the gekiga movement 7. Historical development of the Japanese comic book IV - shojo manga 8. Historical development of Japanese comics V - post-Twenty-four, otomechiku manga and gyaru manga 9. Historical development of Japanese comics VI - Garo magazine and avant-garde manga 10. Historical development of Japanese comics VII - the emergence of seinen and josei manga 11. Historical development of Japanese comics VIII - otaku and the Japanese comic scene at the turn of the millennium 12. Development of the Japanese comics industry
