Výstupy z učení

The Czech Republic is a home of a number of minorities whose languages are radically different from the official language. This course introduces students to the methodology of language description which equips them to conduct research on minority and any underdescribed languages. The course also brings the perspective of a minority community on the mainstream society. It creates a learning environment where linguistic and cultural knowledge, as well as intercultural communication skills can be put to use. Students will jointly aggregate a documentation corpus mapping the basic features of the minority language. They will develop skills to record, annotate and aggregate the data as well as skills to search and analyse the collected data. Simultaneously, they will keep a research diary to reflect on their own learnig progress and research practices.
