During the course we will focus on: - expressing opinions and building arguments in English - referring to sources in spoken form - paraphrasing - tenses - vocabulary and phrases

Learning outcomes
|
The course aims at teaching the students how to take part in debates and discussions in English. Students will practice necessary vocabulary, phrases and grammar, as well as how to build an argument and respond to criticism. During the course they will put their learned abilities to practice through a number of debates. This means students will learn to: - be able to converse so fluently and spontaneously that they can engage in normal diction and formal discussion with native speakers on a given, pre-prepared specialist topic. - be able to explain a critical point of view on a current issue, indicating the advantages and disadvantages of different options - be able to express themselves clearly, fluently and promptly on a given specialist topic - be able to use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes
In this course, you will learn how to properly discuss and debate in English on a variety of topics. It will also include improving your level of English. Succesful students will have learned how to také part in debates, how to build valid arguments and also improve their English to level B2+.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance, Written exam
- enrollment in STAG at the beginning of the semester - Active attendance in class (in case of absence, a doctor's or departmental certificate must be presented). In no case is a student's absence a reason for not being prepared for the next class - Discipline, concentration and active attitude during class - be well prepared in all deiscussions discussion - all examination requirements will be completed by the student no later than the end of the examination period of the semester. - successfully pass the credit test
