Course content

1. Korean Writing System : Students should be able to read and write Korean. 2. Greeting & introduction : Students should be able to greet and introduce themselves in Korean 3. Request & Suggestion : Students should be able to make requests, suggestions, commands 4. Point at things : Student should be able to point at things using Korean expressions. 5. Present tense Verbs and adjectives : Students should be able to describe their daily life using Present tense Verbs and adjectives. 6. Time : Students should be able to tell time using Korean numbering system. 7. Past tense verbs and adjectives : Students should be able to describe what they did using past tense verbs and adjectives. 8. Locations & Direction : Students should be able to describe the position of things and indicate the direction toward a place. 9. Phone call : Students should be able to make a call in Korean 10. Introducing Family member (Active Korean 2-1) : Students should be able to use honorific expressions for introducing an elder person. 11. Transportation (Active Korean 2-2) : Students should be able to speak about transportation.(get on, get off, transfer etc.) : Students should be able to conjugate irregular verbs

The objective of this course is to develop students' ability to read texts that contain grammar and vocabulary students are familiar with. The course should motivate students to be able to read Korean texts on their own. It is an essential prerequisite to know the Korean alphabet.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will remember the Korean alphabet and will be able to read texts that contain grammar and vocabulary students are familiar with.

Parallel enrollment in courses Conversation 1, Listening 1 and Writing 1. This is course is for first-year students of Korean Studies.
