Learning outcomes
|
This course aims to teach students the basic differences between modern and historical Japanese language, teach them to understand development of Japanese as such, be able to use important grammatical tables, dictionaries and texts, motivate them to try to translate poetry and prose into both modern Japanese and Czech. The course also aims to clarify differences in Japanese in various historical periods. All of this should arouse deeper interest in language and literature, help better understanding of traditional Japanese values, and also motivate thinking about ways of translations, about the archaic form occurring in modern Japanese, etc.
Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to work with classical Japanese dictionaries, grammatical tables, and using them translate more complicated texts written in classical Japanese.
