Course content

Topics: - Food and beverages - Description of a person (personal traits etc.) - An interview with a Japanese person (communication via email) - A review (writing one´s own article and reviewing an article of another student) - An explanation of the meaning of a kanji (e.g. in Japanese names and surnames) - Being someone else (a role-play) - Czech and Japanese proverbs (comparison, usage, meaning) etc.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is designed to practise spoken Japanese based on selected topics. The aim of the course is to further develop both oral and listening skills, and practise the ability to comprehend and make adequate responses. The students are led to increasing their vocabulary concerning the selected conversational topics and expressing themselves in grammatically correct and situation-suitable sentences. Attention is also paid to learning expressions and phrases needed to talk about Japan and its culture. Part of the lessons is based on listening to recordings. The programme of the course is closely coordinated with Japanese 5.
Upon successful completion of this course the students will be able to have a conversation in Japanese on various topics, such as food and national cuisine, and will be able to explain the meaning of selected Czech and Japanese proverbs, compare them, explain the meaning of kanji used etc.
