Learning outcomes
|
This course provides the students with an overview of Japanese history in the 19th, 20th and 21st century - from the late Tokugawa period until present day. The course presents the development of home affairs in Japan, as well as the relations to the Asian continent, and it introduces the East-Asian periodosation and kanji transcription of basic terminology and names to the students.
Upon successful completion of the course students will have a good knowledge of the historical development in Japan from Meiji Restauration until present day.

The course is designed for students of the Bachelor´s programme of Japanese Philology.
