Topics: emperors´ poetry anthologies Heian period female writers, diary literature, zuihitsu prose, monogatari Japanese drama forms development of Japanese poetry kokugaku notebook literature

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
The course is focused on more detailed study of Japanese literature until 1868 and deeper analysis of selected topics. Individual topics are used to demonstrate styles of particular Japanese writers. Students discuss and compare work of Japanese literature and similar styles of European literature.
Upon successful completion ot the course students will have a wider knowledge of classical Japanese literature, will be able to analyse individual literary work from the point of view of particular literary styles and schools, which is mostly based on reading.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of classical Japanese literature on Bachelor´s programme level.
