Learning outcomes
This course introduces modern Indonesian literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, that is, literature written in the Indonesian language. The course draws on students' reading experience, and students are expected to read at least the Indonesian literature available in English. The course prompts you to reconsider some of your assumptions about literature.
Students will acquire competences in critically reading excerpts from Indonesian literature by well-known authors (twentieth to twenty-first centuries). They will be introduced to different literary generations and contemporary literature, including different genres (i.e. novels and short stories).
Prerequisites
Students should have completed the student requirements for year 1 of their studies.
