Course content
|
The seminar will focus primarily on Glagolitic and Cyrillic relics in relationship to a wider historical and cultural context of the period of St. Cyril and Methodius. A special attention will also be paid to the attempts to restore the Old Church Slavonic in the 20th century and to the texts which were in that time produced in our region (Vojtěch Tkadlčík and his "Glagolitic missals").

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the seminar is to introduce students to Old Church Slavonic, the oldest literary Slavonic language and the oldest liturgical Slavonic language.
The students will be guided to translate selected Old Church Slavonic writings into Czech and to analyse the texts linguistically, with special regards to its practical usage in the church.
