Course content
The lectures combined with the individual work (homestudy of the assigned texts, practical assignments, meditations with the methodological introduction).

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to offer CMTF students and others interested in meditation a glimpse of the possibilities of meditation exercises (for non-Christians) and the opportunity to deepen their life of faith and their spiritual experience with inner prayer or the Serenity Prayer (for Christians and those interested). Students will be introduced to the religious and philosophical foundations of meditation offered by Eastern (Hindu, Buddhist, etc.) traditions. They will understand the difference between Christian and non-Christian meditation, object and non-object meditation, become familiar with the differences in understanding different concepts of meditation, learn the practice that has been shaped over the centuries in the Christian tradition, and become familiar with important texts by Christian authors on inner prayer, the Serenity Prayer, contemplation, etc.
Students will be able to use the acquired theoretical knowledge in their personal spiritual lives
Prerequisites
A genuine interest and openness to knowledge is assumed. Belief in the Triune God is/may be an advantage

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog

Participation in meetings at the school having the character of a lecture and subsequent exercise, i.e. (guided) meditation, study of recommended texts, presentation of the readings of the assigned and selected studied text.
