Course content
The subject matter is divided into four thematic areas: general introduction to ecumenism and ecumenical theology; the world of Christian churches and confessional traditions; churches in ecumenical dialogue; ecumenical practice and spirituality in the conditions of the local church. Within these units, the following questions will be examined: - the history of the ecumenical movement, - ecclesiological basis of ecumenical dialogue, - the faith and life of the churches of the Christian East, - Protestant Churches and communities, - key issues of ecumenical dialogue with the Eastern Churches, - key issues of dialogue with Protestant churches, - specifics of Czech ecumenism, - selected topics of ecumenical practice, - spiritual ecumenism.

Learning outcomes
In the subject Ecumenical Theology, ecumenism will be presented in its manifestations as a modern movement consisting in the restoration of mutual relations between Christians. The course focuses on how ecumenism fundamentally transforms not only theological hermeneutics, but also affects the practical life of churches and their spirituality.
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - interpret the main lines of ecclesiastical documents on ecumenism after Vatican II; - identify different concepts of unity and ecumenism in the context of different confessional ecclesiologies, - describe the characteristics of major Christian churches and traditions, - summarize and explain the content of the main controversial dogmatic issues, - summarize, critically assess and evaluate the most important results of the ecumenical dialogues, - to re-embrace the importance of ecumenism not only for the life of the Church, but also for own theological synthesis and personal spirituality, - apply ecumenical sensitivity in pastoral discernment and practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Seminar Work

To complete the course, it is necessary to elaborate a seminar paper up to 10 pages long and pass an oral unqualified exam (colloquium).
