In the subject of Ecclesiology, the Catholic doctrine of the Church will be presented in synthetic form, as proposed in the teaching of the Second Vatican Council, in relation to its biblical basis, in continuity with tradition and in the dynamics of the renewal of God's people.
At the end of the course the student will be able to: - summarize and explain the basics of Catholic doctrine of the Church, - identify the basic sources of the Catholic teaching on the Church in the Holy Scripture, - describe the ways of self-conception of the Church in certain stages of her history, - to find connections between various models of the Church in history and the corresponding approaches to the theme of "church" in theological reflection, - to interpret the main lines of Catholic ecclesiology contained in the Council's dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium, - summarize, critically assess and evaluate selected ecclesiological issues after the Second Vatican Council, - recapture the importance of dogmatic-theological reflection on the Church for his/her theological synthesis and spiritual life, - to draw conclusions of the theory of the Church for pastoral discernement and practice. |
