Course content
General introduction to ecumenism (terminology; modern ecumenical efforts and the Catholic Church; ecclesiological foundations of ecumenical dialogue). The world of Christian churches and confessional traditions (faith and life of the churches of the Christian East; features of world Protestantism). Churches in ecumenical dialogue: fruits and perspectives (main faith issues of ecumenical dialogue with the Eastern churches and with Protestantism). Ecumenical practice and spirituality in the conditions of the local church (the specifics of Czech ecumenism; the ecumenical dimension of pastoral care; the spiritual dimension of efforts for Christian unity).

Learning outcomes
To present ecumenism as a modern world movement aimed at restoring mutual relations between Christians and full communion between churches. To give an overview of the beliefs, theological traditions, and expressions of the spiritual life of the various Christian churches. To show how ecumenism as a method transforms theological hermeneutics from conflict towards an "exchange of gifts" and a full knowledge of the doctrine of Christ, and how it also reaches into the practical life of the churches and into Christian spirituality.
Ability to interpret the main lines of Church documents on ecumenism after the Second Vatican Council. Ability to describe the distinctive features of the main Christian churches and traditions. Ability to summarize, critically assess and evaluate the most important results of ecumenical dialogues. The ability to apply the dimension of ecumenism in the practical life of Christians and Christian churches and in one's own theological synthesis.

The student organizes his/her studies on the basis of the study materials and instructions in the LMS; he/she participates in the mandatory online webinars and completes continuous subtests. One absence from a mandatory webinar is allowed. However, absence from a mandatory webinar must be properly and timely excused and the teacher may request an individual make-up assignment. Participation in the webinar is defined as online participation for the entire duration of the webinar that is enabled by a stable and high quality internet connection. A working microphone and camera on for the duration of the webinar is required. No other activities requiring concentration (driving, etc.) are allowed during the webinar. The following is required for successful completion of the course: 1) Written paper on the topic "Ecumenical Relationships in My Place of Residence" (cca 3 pages); 2) Completion of the exam.
