Course content
Classification of applied ethics among ethical disciplines, overview of approaches to applied ethics. The Ten Commandments as a source of deontological religious ethics. Consequentialism. Virtue ethics. Pronunctivism as a response to the plurality of ethical theories, principles used in bioethics. Ethical issues related to the beginning of human life. Ethical issues related to the end of human life. Ethical aspects of environmental protection. Ethical aspects of the handling of information. War and the protection of peace. Ethical dilemmas for social workers.

Learning outcomes
A comprehensive overview over the approaches to applied ethics. An overview of the basic ethical issues relevant to Christians today.
The ability to identify and articulate what view of a particular ethical issue is found in the Bible, tradition, among contemporary Christians, and in the magisterium. The ability to take one's own informed position.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Christian ethics at the level of the Bachelor of Theology.

Assessment methods and criteria

The student organizes his/her studies based on the study materials and the instructions in the LMS; he/she participates in the announced mandatory online webinars and actively discusses the learning materials (approximately 5), for which he/she receives credit. If the student excuses himself/herself from a mandatory webinar, he/she can watch it from the recording. However, the instructor will appropriately verify that the student has studied the material on the recording. The examination takes the form of a public presentation of the thesis and a discussion of the thesis.
