Contents of the thematic block Topics associated with cultural conflicts in various forms and spirituality are the subject of social discussions, which very often lead to ethically demanding topics. Therefore, this subject is an integral part of the study curriculum. Lecture blocks within the course will focus on: - theoretical approaches to cultural clashes (Fukuyama, Huntington, etc.) - the disintegration of the Roman Empire as a model situation for the end of culture - the emergence of barbaric states - the birth of the European model - religious conflicts of the European world as a specific phenomenon of cultural conflict - Conflicts of religion and religious wars - the phenomenon of nationalism and its conflict potential. Lectures will take place both in the form of regular lectures by the guarantor, but also in the form of so-called lectures by Czech and foreign specialists called in the framework of internationalization. Seminars are divided into thematic (dedicated to seminar teaching - 50 hours) and reflexive (dedicated to reflection on the study and the course of education 5 hours). Reflexive seminars are led by the program guarantor. Seminar topics - issues of conflict with Islam (Arab strikes, crusades, clashes with Ottoman Turks) - the issue of European confessionalization and religious wars of the modern age (Hussites, Reformation, Thirty Years' War)

Objectives of the thematic block As part of the study of the subject, students will gain - basic knowledge of selected stages of European and world history - ability to search, update, reflect and interpret knowledge from history - ability to apply ethical principles and cultural paradigms in the study and interpretation of knowledge in the field of history - ability to process reflected historical topics by various forms of media communication - ability to defend the chosen interpretation procedure and model in accordance with ethical principles and respect for culture in the media processed and presented topics
