Course content
1. The concept of forensic, penintential psychology, the subject of forensic psychology and its relationship to other psychological disciplines and other scientific disciplines 2. Concepts of prison, imprisonment, functions of prison, prison systems, classification, organization of the Czech prison system 3. Punishment in historical context and its interpretation and changes over time to the present, philosophy of punishment - development of the view of punishment, retribution, isolation 4. Forensic psychology - view of development over time 5. Causes of criminal behaviour - basic theories of crime, socio-structural theories 6. Causes of criminal behaviour - basic theories of crime, socio-procedural theory 7. Causes of criminal behaviour - basic theories of crime, victimological theories 8. Types of punishments according to the Criminal Code, Act No. 40/2000 Coll., alternative punishments - types, possibilities of imposing, control, effectiveness 9. retributive and restorative justice - interpretation of concepts, psychological view, punishments 10. Psychologist's work in detention and punishment - possibilities and limits, diagnostics 11. Specialized departments in the execution of punishment, division, meaning, importance of the psychologist's work in these departments 12. Programs of treatment of offenders sentenced to imprisonment and their brief characteristics. Factors limiting the effectiveness of the programmes 13. Rights and duties of prisoners, international conventions on minimum rules for the treatment of prisoners, rights and duties of prisoners, restrictions and treatment 14. Negative phenomena in prison 15. Detention, detention centres 16. Concept of misdemeanour, offence, crime, impact of crime on the victim, post-traumatic stress disorder 17. Personality disorders - classification, division - ICD 10, DSM IV, significance of behavioural and personality disorders 18.Probation and mediation service - origin, development, tasks - explanation of the concepts of probation and mediation
