Course content
Basic characteristics of pedagogical thought on education in ancient Greece and Rome. Medieval approaches to education and to upbringing. Modern history and pedagogical thinking. Contemporary views on education.

Demonstrating the ability to read and interpret text in the field of pedagogical thinking throughout history.
The student is able to orientate in pedagogical movements, schools and opinions that have established during history. Students can express their attitudes and opinions to these beliefs.

Student performance

The condition for completing the course is active participation in classes. Students can work critically with texts from the history of pedagogy and evaluate them. They will elaborate in writing a topic connected with the pedagogical system of selected representatives of Christian pedagogy, or founders of religious orders and subsequently schools (Joseph Calasanz, Jean de la Salle, don Bosco, Angela Merici, etc.). Students will put their work to the Moodle system by the set deadline. Students with specific educational needs will have course completion requirements adapted to their type of disability. The modification of the requirements may include an extension of time for written tests and papers, alteration of the point assessment in written papers, or changes to the classroom environment and necessary study aids.
