Course content
|
The student is ready to assess the life situation of clients, especially children and youth as well as adults, and is able to design and implement an adequate type of intervention. The graduate has an overview of usable standard and innovative methods of working with different target groups and knows how to apply them in practice. The graduate has developed professional and communication competencies needed for the performance of social work. With a qualified supervisor, he or she reflects on his or her work, relationships and challenging situations.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the professional practice is to gain experience with the selected institution's activities in social work, with a focus on work with children and youth. Typical institutions may include child welfare authorities, social activation services, social service facilities, and non-profit organizations. Objectives: - deepening the knowledge of social work, social pedagogy methods, out-of-school didactics, and their application when working with different groups of clients - creation, planning, and organization of activities suitable for clients in the selected facility - developing values and generally ethical principles through socio-educational action - applying knowledge and competences in real conditions of the organization
Competences acquired after graduation: - Competences in creating, planning, and organizing activities and projects suitable for different target groups of social work - Competences to use knowledge and skills from professional subjects - Knowledge of the system of services provided, the legislative anchoring of equipment, and skills for the use of methods and forms in different types of facilities in which a social worker is employed - Competence of self-reflection in relation to the target group

Prerequisites
|
The student first undergoes theoretical training as part of a set of professional subjects and in any case is legally competent to work with children and youth (he is not prohibited for this activity).

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Final Report
The student must apply for the internship. The application conditions are specified in the internship methodology. The student is obliged to observe the agreed number of hours at the workplace (i.e., 100% attendance). The student is expected to conscientiously perform assigned tasks by the department at the workplace and, at the same time, actively participate in activities assigned by the mentor during the internship. The student is obliged to submit the first version of the final thesis (according to the methodology form) within two weeks of the completion of the internship, the recognition of which is a condition for granting the credit. Requirements for fulfillment: The student must attend the mandatory entry seminar of the internship as well as the exit seminar, where he presents the results of his thesis.
