Course content
|
The practice will be implemented in cooperation with facilities for children and youth or adults, where the student will become acquainted with the activities of specific facilities where a social worker is employed in the social field, and will gain basic experience working with groups of children, youth, or adults. The students will choose, based on their own interest, the preferred facility with a target group, which is agreed by the guarantor of the practice. The students will become acquainted with the operation of the facility, including personnel, legislative, and economic security. Furthermore, the students will apply the knowledge they have acquired in individual subjects. They will become acquainted with the facility's problems as well as its possibilities for further development. The professional practice includes a survey that involves participation in research and the collection of research data.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the professional practice is to understand the selected institution's activities in social work, with a focus on work with children, youth, and adults. Basic skills in planning, organizing, and conducting activities in the field of social work, classification of strengths/weaknesses and opportunities/threats of the organization. Typical institutions can be K-center (Handshakes), P-center, care for children with disabilities (Jitro, Behind Glass), substitute family care (Good Family), shelter houses, shelter house for mothers with children, etc. Participation in the research activities of the staff of the Christian Social Work Department.
Students deepen their ability to assess clients' life situations within families, particularly those of children, adolescents, and adults. Graduates have an overview of applicable standards and innovative methods for working with various target groups and know how to apply them in practice. Graduates develop the professional and communication skills necessary for social work. With the guidance of a qualified supervisor, they reflect on their work, relationships, and challenging situations.

Prerequisites
|
First of all the students are due to pass a range of pedagogical subjects and in all cases they must be legally capable to work with children and the youth (i.e. it is not probihited for them to work with children and the youth), and adults.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Final Report
The student must apply for the internship. The conditions for applying are specified in the internship methodology. The student is obliged to observe the agreed number of hours at the workplace (i.e., 100% attendance). The student is expected to conscientiously perform assigned tasks by the department at the workplace and, at the same time, actively participate in activities assigned by the mentor during the internship. The student is obliged to submit the first version of the final thesis (according to the methodology form) within two weeks of the completion of the internship, the recognition of which is a condition for granting the credit. Requirements for fulfillment: The student must attend the mandatory entry seminar of the internship as well as the exit seminar, where he presents the results of his thesis.
