Course content
- Development of intercultural competences (cognitive, affective and behavioral competences) - Intercultural communication and its obstacles (verbal and nonverbal communication, expression of emotions, communication etiquette, stereotypes, prejudices, ethnofaulisms, ethnocentrism, the importance of language in intercultural communication) - Definition of culture and its components (characteristics of culture, cultural models) - Cultural shock and psychological problems of acculturation and adaptation - Intercultural counseling

Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Demonstration, Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce students with basic knowledge and principles of intercultural communication competences and prepare them for more effective communication with members of other cultures and ethnic groups within their profession. Students are also encouraged to understand the issues of prejudice, stereotypes, ethnocentrism and cultural shock, which are the significant problems for successful intercultural communication and adaptation in other cultural and social environments.
Students will be able to implement gained theoretical and practical knowledge through interaction with members of other cultures within their profession.
