Course content
Topics: 1. Civil society - concept, related concepts; democracy and CS, CS functions, state and CS. 2. Public policies and CS 3. Social capital (concepts, forms, sources) and trust.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to basic concepts related to civil society and give them the opportunity to reflect on the role of civil society in society.
Thanks to completing the course, a student: - get the basic knowledge and skills for understanding terms and concepts related to civil society, its quality, characteristics and functions, including questions such as social capital and trust, as well as legitimacy and representation; - knows various forms/manifestations of civil society and concepts related to it, such as an open society or the third sector; - understands the relation between civil society and democracy; knows barriers and conditions for functioning of civil society; - knows how CS can influence public policies.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge from the area of civic education.

Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student, Final project

Preparedness and active participation in the class session. Final project.
