Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to learn how to apply theoretical knowledge about volunteering in community services. Students will gain basic knowledge of volunteer management. Students will reflect on the volunteer experience and its benefits in relation to personal and professional growth. The course is divided into two teaching blocks. In the first session, students will gain basic knowledge about volunteering as a form of civic participation as well as a tool for personal and professional growth. They will get acquainted with the rights and duties of a volunteer and the role of a volunteer coordinator. They will get acquainted with the current offer of the UP Volunteer Centre. Between the first and second meetings, students will complete a volunteer activity of 40 hours. They will prepare a written self-reflection according to a pre-prepared structure. During the second session, students will reflect in a group on the volunteering experience and discuss the benefits of volunteering for society, community, organization, university, and other stakeholders.
Student could identify the needs of clients and the community. Student could design appropriate interventions to saturate the identified needs. Student could reflect their volunteer activity.
