The aim of this seminar is to introduce selected main figures and periods from the history of philosophy. Intruduction in the philosophy of education. Fundamental problems. Philosophical schools especially in 20th century and consequences for education. Educational policy and objectives.
Students will gain basic orientation in philosophical problems of selected periods from the history of philosophy. Independent examination of the consequences of significant philosophical approcaches for education. Competence of educational objectives providing and critical exploring.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam
Oral or written examination on topics set in advance. Seminar paper (5 - 10 standard A4 pages) on specified thema. Active approach in seminar discussions.
