The concept of God according to the philosophers:Socrates and knowing by not knowing; Plato: aesthesis, catharsis, anamnesis, episteme; Aristotle: the first mover, self-thinking thought; Augustine and knowledge of God, mind; Pseudo-Dionysius: theology; Anselm: reason and belief; Thomas Aquinas: knowledge of God; change in the notion of God in modern philosophy (God as a guarantor of knowledge or moral action), comparison of current approaches.

A short introduction into the development of the notion of God in the European tradition.
Students will be able to critically evaluate particular conceptions of God in the range of the European history.
