Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge enabling them to acquire a basic orientation in the issues of private law for the needs of social and legal protection of children, as well as a basic orientation in individual court proceedings that affect the legal relations of the child. The aim is that the graduate of this course should acquire the necessary expertise for the qualified defence of the interests of the child not only in his/her own social work with the child and the family of which the child is a member, but also in individual types of court proceedings where, as an employee of a social-legal protection body for children, he/she can act in the procedural position of a guardian of a minor child. This includes dealing with the current negative social phenomenon of so-called child debtors and so-called child debts. A social worker so educated will be able to eliminate to some extent the negative effects of failure to properly fulfil parental responsibility of its bearers. Therefore, the training will focus on the basic private law institutes, as listed below, as well as on the different types of civil proceedings, in which the protection of the threatened or violated rights of a minor is at stake, taking into account the current pathological social phenomena.
He is familiar with legal regulations and applies the acquired knowledge in his activities in the performance of social and legal protection of children wherever knowledge of private law norms as well as procedural norms is required. The student will acquire the basic competences for representing a minor in civil court proceedings, for exercising guardianship and guardianship of a child, or for acting in a body of social and legal protection of children, which ensures the performance of the functions of a public guardian and guardian.
