Course content
|
Reading and studying selected psalms (cca 5) with a focus on the poetic elements of the Hebrew text and its theological message.

Learning outcomes
|
Deeper understanding of selected psalms, appreciation of their poetic quality.
Ability to work with Hebrew text with the help of BibleWorks program. Ability to determine the structure of the biblical text and to identify possible poetic elements. Ability to find and evaluate appropriate biblical parallels to individual psalm verses or formulations, images and symbols. Ability to concisely summarize the message of individual verses and the entire psalm. Ability of critical evaluation of the secondary literature.

Prerequisites
|
Basic knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, passive knowledge of English for working with BibleWorks.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Seminar Work
Active participation in seminars. Written seminar paper - analysis of one psalm according to the method applied in seminars.
