Course content

The concept of the New Testament. History of the formation of the New Testament canon. The text of the New Testament: the main manuscripts of the Greek text; ancient translations; textual criticism. Introduction to the political and religious background of the New Testament period. Detailed introduction to all the books of the New Testament: circumstances of composition, literary characteristics, structure, content, theology.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, the student will not only be able to understand the circumstances of the composition of the books of the New Testament, but also to describe their literary and theological character on the basis of the knowledge gained.
After completing the course, you will be able - to describe the history of the formation of the New Testament canon and the transmitting and preservation of the New Testament text, - to clarify the circumstances of the origin of individual New Testament books, - to characterize the literary and theological character of the New Testament books.
