Course content
|
1) Phonology and punctuation system of the Hebrew text. 2) Basics of Hebrew morphology (article, basic prepositions, conjunction "and", status constructus, masculine and feminine, singular and plural, dual, basic pronouns). 3) Simple nominal sentences. 4) Basic vocabulary (approximately 75 words). 5) Verbs - only a basic overview of existing verb forms.

Learning outcomes
|
Basic idea of the original language of the Old Testament and its way of expression. Better understanding of the secondary literature on the Old Testament, which refers to the original text. Ability to avoid abbreviated conclusions about the statements of Old Testament texts, notion of possible pitfalls given by the nature of biblical Hebrew.
Reading of the Hebrew text and understanding of very simple Hebrew sentences. Ability to search in standard Biblical Hebrew dictionaries. Orientation in electronic and online aids for the analysis of the Hebrew text.
