Course content

The term - New Testament. Development of the canon of the New Testament. History of the canon of the the New Testament. The text of the New Testament: the main manuscripts of the Greek text, ancient translations, textual criticism). Familiarization with the political and religious background of the New Testament period. Detailed introduction to all books of the New Testament: the circumstances of the formation, literary characteristics, structure, content, theology.

The history and development of the canon of the New Testament. The text of the New Testament: its transmission and preservation. The period of the New Testament: its political and religious background. The books of the New Testament: the circumstances of their formation, their literary and theological character. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students will acquire basic knowledge about the content, text and formation the New Testament. The student will gain familiarity both on the New Testament as a unit and on its constituent books.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral exam, Written exam
Both a written and a final oral examination will be required of all students. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
