Course content
- Biopsychosocial approach in medicine and problems of the narrowing to biomedicine - Comprehensive assessment of the degree of the disability in psychiatric and psychosomatic diseases according to the WHO - Attachment and psychological traumatization across the life span (connections with risk and etiopathogenetic factor, with resilience, disease processing, disease behaviour, treatment cooperation, prevention options) - Defense mechanisms in connection to the biopsychosocial approach - Life events and psychosocial stressors involved in the pathogenesis or affecting the course of psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders - Resilience and possibilities of its increase

Learning outcomes
- getting acquainted with the biopsychosocial model and conceptualization of the case as a comprehensive approach to diagnosis - design of therapy for the client with psychosomatic problems - to acquaint the degree of disability in specific areas of functioning in psychiatric and psychosomatic patients according to the WHO DS Disablement scale - introduction with attachment theory and possible impact of psychic traumatization on forming bonds to close persons - to acquaint participants with the theory of defense mechanisms and how to integrate these knowledges into work with psychiatric / psychosomatic patients - acquaintance with life events that may be involved in pathogenesis or may affect the course of psychiatric and psychosomatic disorders - to get acquainted with the concept of resilience as an important defensive factor protecting against the emerging and worsening of mental and psychosomatic disorders and the possibilities how to increase it.
