Course content
|
- Introduction, determination of requirements for awarding the exam. - Meaning of First Aid (FA), FA system (lay, medical, technical), FA legislation. - FA procedure, investigation of basic physiological functions (breathing, circulation, consciousness - quantitative and qualitative assessment). - FA in arrest or breathing disorders (foreign body in airways, shortness of breath, arrest). - FA in circulatory arrest, indirect cardiac massage (in adults, small children, infants), cardiopulmonary resuscitation. - FA for bleeding (arterial - pressure points, pressure dressing, tourniquet use; venous, capillary, mixed; internal; bleeding from body openings). - FA for head and spine and spinal cord injuries (concussions, contusions). - Dressing technique, use of available types of dressing materials (plaster, bandage, scarf, etc.). - FA for bone and joint injuries (sprains, dislocations, fractures - closed, open, comminuted). - FA for damage to the body caused by thermal effects (heatstroke, scald, burns, frostbite, cold, etc.). - FA for electric accidents by current. - FA for drowning. Sudden states - epileptic attack and other convulsive states, asthma attack, hypo and hyperglycemic states.

Learning outcomes
|
This course focuses on the concept of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in the context of education and pedagogy. Students will be introduced to the theoretical foundations of EBP and its importance for improving the quality of teaching and decision-making in educational settings. The course emphasizes understanding the key phases of the EBP process, from formulating research questions and systematically searching for relevant sources to critically appraising scientific studies and applying findings in educational practice. Throughout the course, students will develop essential skills for working with academic literature, including effective database searching, evaluating research quality, and interpreting findings. These competencies will be applied to real educational contexts to support informed and reflective decision-making.
- the student masters the theoretical procedures of providing first aid in the entire breadth of the basic lay first aid system - the student practically manages the basic procedures of lay first aid with an emphasis on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, using of AED, stopping bleeding, anti-shock measures, etc.
