Course content
The course is aimed at defining the Diplomacy within the system of international relations and foreign policy, especially with the focus of its role in ensuring the protection of the vital interests of the sovereign countries, creating the conditions for cooperative and prosperous international environment, in fostering the good image of the country abroad etc. It is also looking at Diplomacy as a collection of practical doctrines, norms and customs in international relations or the practical art of maneuvering and negotiating effectively. The course also provides the introduction to skills training in etiquette and diplomatic protocol. The attention will also be paid on specific types of Diplomacy such as: cultural diplomacy, conference diplomacy, environmental diplomacy or international mediation. We shall not omit the role of the diplomatic offices in development cooperation.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of this course is to provide the basic orientation in Diplomacy as one of the forms of the foreign policy, including its history and strategies.
Upon completion of the course students shall be able to understand the basic concepts of foreign policy and diplomacy and also enhance the capacities and basic practical skills in etiquette and protocol.

Final exam, competent and active participation in the group work and seminars (simulations, case studies, exercises), presentation.
