Course content |
This discipline follows the basic course in pedology and deepens the knowledge of the students in individual chapters about soil origin, classification (including international classifications), and physical, chemical, and biological features. It also deals with the issues of soil quality, basic types of soil degradation, acidification and alkalization, salination, and intoxication with potentially hazardous elements and organic hazardous agents. Attention is also paid to the monitoring of foreign extraneous substances in the soil, the application of geographical information systems in soil monitoring, approaches to the improvement and renewal of the soil quality, protection of the soil fund, and related legislation. This subject also elaborates on research methods, soil analyses and assessment, applying valid methodologies, and research outcomes. The management measures discussed and proposed shall, on the basis of literature sources and practical projects, be focused on particular students' doctoral theses.
