Course content
|
The course introduces students to humanitarian work. It analyses basic aspects of the humanitarian work and humanitarian aid, as well as the relationship with the development co-operation and social assistance. Subject topics: content of the humanitarian work, its characteristics and definition, basic principles and difficulties, humanitarian worker - his competenties (knowledge, skills, behavior), ethical aspects, threads and security during humanitarian mission. The course puts emphasis on bridging theories with praxis, using experiences of the lecturer who has been taking part in numerous humanitarian missions.

Learning outcomes
|
The main aim of the course is to introduce students to contents and forms of humanitarian aid, basic principles of humanitarian aid purveying and preconditions of humanitarian aid purveying from the personal and professional point of view. The course gives general overview of Czech and foreign humanitarian organizations, their specifics and potential. The course introduces students to particular examples of Czech and foreign humanitarian aid.
Upon completion of the course students are introduced to the basis of a humanitarin work and its problematics, in a context of the development assistance.

For succesful completion of the course, students are required to actively participate during the lectures and presentof an essay on a chosen topic.
