Gene cloning, microbial ecology and genomics, metagenomic libraries of non-cultivated organisms, bioinformatics and web databases in microbial ecology.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Demonstration
Learning outcomes
Lecture provides basic overview of biology and ecology of microorganisms in environmental habitats and possible using of molecular methods for their study. While focusing on description of microbial diversity and construction of phylogenetic trees based on the 16S rRNA similarity. Main attempt is put on understanding of advantages of various molecular methods and approaches used in the microbiological research.
At the end of a semester it is expected that student will: - have deepened knowledge on occurrence, diversity and role of microorganisms in the nature - know about possible using of molecular methods in microbial ecology - be able to intepret results of varous studies aimed with detection of microorganisms by using molecular methods
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledhe in microbiology, ecology, molecular and cell biology.
